HANS STOLZ KICKBOXING Comet Sport Centre, Farrar street, Comet, Boksburg. Garmin: S26 12.058 E28 14.493 |
·
HANS STOLZ started Karate as a
junior in 1972 at the Dave Maas Health Studio in Pretoria.
·
In 1973, he got his Northern
Transvaal Karate Provincial colors as a junior, and he became runner-up South
African Junior Karate Champion.
·
In the same year, Hans took up
Boxing to compliment his Karate - there was no such thing as kickboxing yet!
·
In 1979, at the black belt
grading at Die Oog in Pogietersrus, Hans achieved his 1st Dan
senior Black Belt.
·
Shian Eddy Ward encouraged Hans
to achieve his full potential to be champion.
· As a senior, he was awarded his Northern Transvaal Karate Colors in 1980 and became the runner-up South African Champion.
· In 1981 to 1982 he represented
Eastern Transvaal many times for Karate.
·
Between 1982 and 1989 he took a
break to further his career.
· Hans started kickboxing in 1989
with Shian Danie du Plessis in Kempton Park.
· In 1990, he was chosen for the
Eastern Transvaal Kickboxing team to take part in the SA Championships in Cape
Town. There he achieved 3rd
place and was chosen to represent South Africa in Palermo Sicily in 1991
(Kickboxing test against Italy).
·
In 1991, he was awarded official
Springbok colors, approved by Danie Craven at the time.
·
Hans opened his own kickboxing
club in 1993 at the Jukskei Club in Boksburg. In 1994 the club moved to the
Boksburg Swimming Pool.
· Two
years later, they moved to the Comet Sports Centre in Comet, Boksburg North, where they are
presently situated. The club has
been
active for 18 years and has produced
several Provincial and South African Champions.
·
Initially Hans took classes and
ran the club on his own. As the club
grew, he took on his best fighter, Christo Swart (Spingbok Boxer & Kickboxer).
· Christo and Hans took the club
to the next level in Full Contact Kickboxing. The Club took on fights all over
South Africa.
· Hans was never interested in
kickboxing politics; all he wanted was for his students to gain experience and
be the best fighters. Christo Swart left in 2002 due to family commitments and
Hans took on Dean Labuschagne, also one of his
previous
top fighters, to help with the
training.
· Dean Labuschagne started Shoot Boxing at the age of 24 in 1992 at Johan Haywood' s club in Klopperpark. He trained with Johan Haywood for 2 years, before joining at Hans Stoltz’ club in Boksburg North.
· Currently Hans
has
several
top junior and senior fighters in the club.
